Levels of Care at NuLife Framingham

Mental health and addiction are complicated problems that affect people in different ways. That’s why customized care is an integral part of treatment at NuLife Framingham. We know a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work for addiction recovery and mental health care.

Instead, we work to meet each individual where they’re at. For some people that means starting recovery in a residential treatment program. For others, it means a partial hospitalization program or an intensive outpatient program.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

  • For people who need more than basic outpatient support but don’t need a live-in 24/7 program
  • Includes 30+ hours a week of individual and group therapy, plus evidence-based treatments

Many people need intensive treatment after completing an alcohol or drug detox program. But not everyone needs 24/7 residential care. The NuLife partial hospitalization program is for those who need a high level of support but don’t need to live in a residential facility.

PHP is for people who have completed the detox phase of alcohol or drug rehab and need a full-time therapy program. PHP clients spend five to seven days a week at the NuLife Framingham behavioral health clinic, for six to eight hours a day. Along with group and individual therapy, they take part in evidence-based treatments. These can include biofeedback and biosound therapy, as well as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

  • For people who needed additional intensive support after completing the PHP, or people who need an intensive—but not full-time—treatment program
  • Includes 12 hours a week of therapy and evidence-based treatment

The NuLife intensive outpatient program is for people who have completed our PHP and need continued support. It’s also suitable for people who need ongoing support while working or attending school. By attending IOP sessions, they receive structured support that helps them take sure steps towards recovery.

IOP clients attend the NuLife Framingham center for 12 hours a week for group and individual therapy sessions. Many clients also take part in biosound or biofeedback therapy, or they attend 12-step meetings as a further source of support.

Outpatient Treatment

  • Designed for people who have completed PHP and/or IOP and are ready for the next step in their recovery journey
  • Includes individual and group therapy, plus activities to aid and support recovery

The NuLife outpatient program in Framingham represents the least intensive level of care. It’s suitable for people who have completed the PHP or IOP and are ready to integrate recovery into their everyday lives. Clients live at home but attend treatment sessions. The outpatient program provides flexible support as they take the next steps in their recovery journey.

NuLife Framingham Treatment Programs

Many people suffer with mental health issues or substance use disorders, but everyone’s journey follows a different path. Because of that, we take an individualized approach to treatment. Each client receives a unique treatment plan that addresses their specific challenges.

Substance Abuse: Our substance abuse treatment program helps clients dig deep into the complex causes of their addictions so they can start the healing process. Within a supportive framework that incorporates both group and individual therapy, clients take steps towards building a new, sober life.

Mental Health: NuLife’s mental health treatment program helps people who are struggling with all kinds of mental health issues, including, but not limited to:

  • Depression disorders
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Personality disorders
  • PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder)

We offer evidence-based treatments and holistic therapies to help clients better manage their symptoms.

Dual Diagnosis: For people who struggle both with addiction and mental health, treating one problem without the other is unproductive. A dual diagnosis treatment program addresses both issues at the same time. The NuLife dual diagnosis program helps clients manage their mental health while maintaining sobriety. This sets them up for success in life after treatment in Framingham.

Mental Health and Addiction Recovery Support: What to Expect at NuLife Framingham

Treatment at NuLife Framingham begins with a free and confidential assessment. To get started, call NuLife at 508-271-1972 or connect with us online. We’ll confirm your insurance eligibility and reach out to schedule an assessment.

Assessment: The first step in getting help is an assessment. As part of this process, we meet with you to discuss your challenges and determine which NuLife program will best meet your needs.

If you’re reaching out for addiction help, you may need to undergo detox before starting a NuLife program. For some people, supervised medical detox is a necessary part of alcohol or drug treatment. Whether you need to undergo detox depends on what substances you’re using and how severe your addiction is.

Treatment: When you start your NuLife program, you’ll be assigned a treatment team. You’ll have this same team throughout your treatment in Framingham. You and your care team will work together to understand why you’re struggling and how to build a strong foundation for your life.

Our treatment programs are designed for people who can reach their treatment goals without the need to live at a treatment facility. Depending on the program you enter, you’ll spend from two to eight hours at the NuLife Framingham behavioral health center, five to seven days a week.

NuLife treatment programs include individual and group therapy. This involves evidence-based techniques such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), relapse prevention, and trauma therapy, depending on your individual needs. We also offer experiential therapies like yoga, art and music therapy, and wilderness therapy to reduce stress, build confidence, and strengthen your mental resilience.

Therapy and treatment options at NuLife include:

  • Addiction/substance abuse treatment: The addiction treatment program includes individual and group therapy, and family support. We also offer experiential therapies such as yoga and meditation.
  • Mental health treatment: Mental health treatment in Framingham is for people with mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and bipolar disorder. The treatment program includes group and individual therapy, and a range of holistic options.
  • Individual therapy: Individual therapy sessions are a core part of NuLife treatment programs, whether they’re for addiction, for mental health issues, or for both. • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
    • Relapse prevention therapy
    • Trauma therapy
    • Motivational interviewing (MI)
  • Group therapy: An important part of every NuLife program, group therapy helps clients connect with others who are facing similar challenges. It’s a place to gain new perspectives and find a sense of community.
  • Family therapy: For some people, family issues can exacerbate mental health or addiction struggles. In family therapy sessions, families learn how to address these issues with open, healthy communication and conflict resolution.
  • Holistic treatments: Many holistic treatments have proven beneficial effects on mental health. NuLife Framingham programs offer a range of evidence-based treatments, including:
    • Acupuncture
    • Music therapy
    • Yoga therapy
    • Wilderness therapy
    • Meditative therapy

Aftercare: Completing a PHP or IOP at NuLife doesn’t mean you’re cut off from our support afterwards. Once you’ve finished your program, you can continue with our alumni program. It’s a community of people who are actively working on recovery while supporting and encouraging each other along the way.

Life After NuLife: Aftercare and Long-Term Addiction Recovery Support

Completing an alcohol rehab or drug rehab program is tough, but staying sober long term can be even tougher. It can be isolating too. Many people find that cutting ties with non-sober friends is an important part of maintaining a sober mindset and lifestyle. That can make recovery lonely. And with all of life’s day-to-day stresses and difficult moments, it can be hard to stay positive, grounded, and motivated.

NuLife’s alumni program provides support and community for people who complete a Framingham treatment program, so they don’t have to face life alone. It brings together people who are working through or have completed their treatment programs at NuLife. It’s a community of like-minded people who provide one another with support, encouragement, and accountability.

As part of the NuLife alumni program, you can benefit from peer support, friendship, and fellowship with others who are working on sobriety, one day at a time. Being part of the alumni program provides an essential source of support that reduces the risk of relapse and helps you stay sober.
